Bio

My roots are based on the popular theatre of “Commedia dell’Arte” in Italy, and on my curiosity in using the gesture and masks before words to tell stories. I was also strongly influenced by Contemporary Dance, which opened up for me the wonderful world of movement; under the abstract signs of the body in space, I can draw my senses and give them a form. When I migrated to Ireland, I developed my interest for community projects and working with children to understand the power of the human value and to find in the Clown art form the generosity to reveal humanity and interacting with the others… and the key to my comic identity.

I graduated in Arts, Drama and Theatre studies (D.A.M.S.) at University of Bologna (Italy). I trained in the Commedia dell’Arte Theatre with the Teatro dell’Arte company in Treviso (Italy) with Giorgio Bertan and Barbara Riebolge, and I studied contemporary dance with the choreographer Silvia Bugno at CSDT in Treviso. I trained as a Clown at C’Art Teatro with Andre’ Casaca in Florence (Italy), at Helikos Teatro with Giovanni Fusetti, Padova (Italy), at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Etampes (France); with Veronica Coburn, Ruth Lehane and Carol Walsh in Dublin (Ireland). I trained in movement analysis with Norman Taylor (London).

I collaborated for four years with the Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin as producer and performer of children theatre; I was a co-founder of ‘Littlebellybuttons Puppet Co’ and ItaliaMo, a no-profit organisations for Italian children in Ireland. I collaborated with Mother Tongues organisation, facilitating physical theatre for bilingual children and held a networking project for new mothers. I collaborated on community projects at Draiocht Theatre, Dublin “Hallelujah Clown Choir, Home Theatre, My Place My Story”. I am a physical theatre facilitator in primary schools as part of Teachers/Artists Partnership Residency Projects.

As a maker and performer, I created and performed the shows for children “When I grow up”, “Arlecchino Invisibile”, “Who knows the little man of dreams”, “Nel Paese dei Giocattoli”, “The Colours of Imagination”; I performed as Arianna in “Il Ratto di Arianna”, as Nina in “Filo’/Storie e leggende del Montello”; I performed in the choreography projects “Un anno ai piedi della luna”, “Soli”, “In the wake of our choices”; I performed in the Clown Choir “Halleluja, The Sheep of Fools”. I develop collaborative and own projects, funded by the support of  Dublin Arts Council and Fingal County Council.
